SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD KADEEN and Kadian Thompson have been top achievers at Manning's School, Westmoreland, over the years, and this has landed them on the school's honour roll.

Though they are twin sisters, they had different study times and techniques, which is probably the only thing they do without each other.

But one thing for sure they both beat the books, as they are celebrating double distinctions in eight subjects each.

Kadian achieved ones in English A, English B, principles of accounts, mathematics, information technology, physics, biology and chemistry, while Kadeen got ones in Spanish, information technology, mathematics, agriculture science, English A, physics, biology and chemistry.

This came as no surprise to the sisters who had expected to be among the top achievers in the examination at their school.

Proud of achievements

Kadeen beamed with pride as she boasted about her achievements.

"I am definitely a self-motivated person, but I am also family-oriented, so my family did a lot for me during my studies," she explained.

"I am extremely proud of us, but I know that we could have done it. This is something that I have been working towards for a long time, which helped me to stay focused, and helped me to maintain a first or second position in my class," she added.

As the twins celebrated their achievements, Kadeen said it is not the end of their hard work as they are now preparing to take up the challenge of sixth form, where they will continue their career path in the field of science.

Kadeen is hoping to become a pharmacologist, while Kadian is aspiring to be a haematologist.

An ecstatic Kadian said her strong belief in God and her parents, Georgia and Dwight, motivated her to be successful.

"I know that my parents worked hard and wanted us to do well, and so I worked and prayed hard while I was studying, and that has carried me through," she explained.

"I am overjoyed and elated and so thankful to God that we could have done so well," she added.
