CMI signs MOU with ANAMAR
The Caribbean Maritime Institute (CMI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Autoridad National de Asuntos Maritimos (ANAMAR) to provide maritime education to Dominican nationals.
The MOU was signed during the recently held Consular Corp of Jamaica (CCOJ) International Trade Expo at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel on October 10.
On hand to witness the signing were the Minister of Transport and Works Mike Henry and the president of the World Federation of Consuls, Arnold Foote.
The partnership between the CMI and ANAMAR will see the institute providing professional maritime education, training, research, consul-tancy, student and lecturers exchange and related skills to facilitate the training and certification of Dominican nationals.
Phase one
The first phase of the cooperation with ANAMAR, will be the setting up of a CMI satellite campus in the Dominica Republic, focusing initially on the training and certification of marine and professional students. This campus will serve South and Central American countries in particular Peru, Honduras and El Salvador.
The second phase of the programme will see the CMI expanding the training to include degrees in logistics and supply chain management and port management, in addition to programmes in the technical/vocational areas.
