Road closures to facilitate political meeting

SEVERAL ROADS in the Corporate Area will be closed at 4 p.m. today to facilitate a political rally in Cross Roads square in Kingston.

The People's National Party (PNP) will hold a public meeting at 6 p.m and the following roads will be closed:

Half-Way Tree Road/Retirement Road.

Old Hope Road/Oxford Road

Old Hope Road, south of Eureka Road.

Caledonia Avenue (no left turn off Marescaux Road by the gas station).

Slipe Road/Torrington Road

The police are advising that parking will be provided at the City of Kingston Credit Union, the Carib Cinema parking lot, Regal and Silver Slipper plazas and along roadways which are closed for the meeting.

Members of the public and supporters of the political party are being reminded that passengers should not hang from the doors of buses, sit on top of vehicles or have any part of the body protruding from motor vehicles.

The police are also warning motorists to obey the speed limit and desist from dangerous and careless driving.

According to the police, anyone found in contravention of any of the provisions of the law will be prosecuted.
