WESTERN BUREAU:A Montego Bay resident who was allegedly caught with two shotgun cartridges hidden in his cap will go to trial in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on December 7.
The accused, Keith Forbes, has pleaded not guilty to illegal possession of ammunition.
When the matter was last brought up before the court on November 24, it was put off for mention due to the absence of statements from the case file.
In court on Monday, Resident Magistrate (RM) Vivienne Harris was informed that the file had been completed, and the prosecution was ready to go to trial in the matter.
Forbes is now scheduled to return to court on December 7.
Irregular bulge
Allegations are that about 8:47 p.m. on September 20, Forbes was seen by members of a police team along Fustic Road in Montego Bay with an irregular bulge in his cap. It is said that he was approached and asked to remove the cap, but he refused.
The officers conducted a search of Forbes' person, and two shotgun cartridges were allegedly found hidden inside his cap.
Under caution, Forbes reportedly said, "Officer, beg you a chance. Mi find them in the garbage."
He was subsequently arrested and charged.
