Creating children who are winners
Dear Ms Thompson,
I recently read your article in The Gleaner on the above subject. It was a very well-written piece and mirrors my approach towards parenting. I grew up in Jamaica without a father figure present. I was fortunate enough to observe the parenting style you described being practised by a former employer of mine in a family-owned business.
I now have two sons of my own (nine and five years old) and am so happy that I learnt this parenting method. Without tooting my own horn, I can honestly say that my kids are bright, socially adept with impeccable manners, and I've not once had the need to administer corporal punishment.
Hopefully, others reading your article will be minded to adopt the approach whereby efforts are made to enhance communication channels rather than reach for the stick to correct every infraction. Keep up the good work and have a wonderful day.
Regards,
Happy Reader
Benefits of peas and beans
Dear Ms Woolery,
Thanks for your lively article. A bit of a reminder and enlightenment on why we should eat beneficial foods for our tired bodies that are overstressed from societal oneupmanship.
Sincerely,
Beresford Davidson
