Serving up succulent pork chops, that's one of the ways Mango Tree Restaurant intends to make it on your list of must-visit eateries for this year's Gleaner-sponsored Restaurant Week.

Their grilled marinated pork chops with guava pineapple sauce is a new menu item for the restaurant, which is in the Savoury category.

"We've never had pork on our menu before," said Jermaine Scarlett, food and beverage manager of the restaurant, located at the Altamont Court Hotel. Scarlett further explained that the new item is a way of answering the call of their customers for pork dishes. Therefore, they are serving up a hearty portion of two grilled pork chops, suited for big eaters, served with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables.

The guava pineapple sauce is a nod to using Jamaican flavours in their dishes.

"You know we must tun wi han and mek fashion," said Scarlett.

He emphasised that the pork chops is just one of the items on the restaurant's new à la carte menu.

"We had some tastings and the response has been good so far," he said.
