Hunt's offers new sauces

Lovers of pasta can experiment a little more in terms of taste and texture with the available sauce offerings on the market. Hunt's, a household name in sauces and other condiments, has added to its tomato brand, and according to Deborah Allen, brand manager at HD Hopwood, this should appeal to many loyal and new customers.

"Why? Simply because the premium line also has added some noticeable rich features. It has a more creamy texture and more chunky pieces of tomato than the one in the tin. It is a lot richer," she said.

With promotion of the product just getting into gear, Allen informed Food that an official launch is scheduled for November 11. This will serve as the formal introduction of the garlic & herb, traditional, garden vegetable, and garlic onion pasta sauce flavours.

And just in time for this, the HD Hopwood team recently visited The Gleaner Company to give employees a taste of the new product.

With meatballs and spaghetti prepared along with fish fillet, the garden & herb and garden vegetables were used as the accompanying sauces.

Below are some of the reviews:

The sauce was a good complement for the fish fillet. It's not very savoury with the spaghetti.

I am not a garlic lover, but I love the taste of the garlic in the sauce. I am a much better fan, though, of the garden vegetable as you taste more of the tomatoes and other vegetables in it.

I found the sauce a little heavy. I did not like the garden vegetable sauce at all. However, the garlic sauce, which was served with the fish, was tasty.

The sauce on the fish was fairly good, but I thought the sauce in the pasta was a little bland.

The subtle hint of garlic is just enough to entice. You want to have more. It's tantalisingly different.

It needs a lot of help. That special Jamaican oomph is missing. It's way too bland for my taste. Would not buy.
