British cops under Jamaica spell?

THE EDITOR, Sir:

LET ME first point out that I hold no brief for the local police. However, recent comments by former Assistant Commissioner of Police Les Green, which has, for the most part, garnered much local support, must also be seen from another perspective.

Yes, on his arrival at our international airport, he may have felt that he had stepped back in time; yes, it may well take two years for DNA results to be available; and yes, most police officers may be distracted by a pretty girl. But former Assistant Commissioner Green should be reminded that one of his own officers, Mark Shields, fell under the spell of one of the island's beauties. I wonder what that first glance did to his concentration.

I'd like to remind former Assistant Commissioner Green that here in Jamaica, there is a proverb: 'Pot cuss kettle say him black'.
