Zim reaffirms commitment to its Jamaican customers
Israeli shipping line, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services, through its local, agent, Carib Star, on May 8, held its second local-customer forum.
The forum, which was themed, 'We Cross Oceans for our Customers', allowed for customers to give feedback on ZIM's services in an effort to improve services to the local market. The forum also saw customers being provided with updates on security, the global marketplace, and ZIM's service in Jamaica.
SECURITY PRESENTATION
Maurice Lawrence, US Customs and Border Protection, Container Security Initiative team leader, made a short presentation on container security. He presented relevant information pertaining to contraband smuggling and findings as well as tips on how to safeguard shipments. He also suggested to exporters an additional layer of security to minimise tampering of their containers for export.
Torsten Tyralla, district commercial manager, provided updates on the international market and ZIM's performance internationally as well as new service offerings. He advised customers that it was ZIM's aim to be one of the top five profitable shipping lines by 2018.
Updating customers on new services introduced since the last customer forum in 2011, Kimani Peterkin, manager, marketing and transshipment for Carib Star, reaffirmed ZIM's commitment to Jamaica, while underscoring that the line would continue to serve the needs of its customers.
ZIM was represented by a local team headed by Captain Diedrich Suendermann, general manager, Carib Star; Kimani Peterkin, marketing and transshipment manager, Carib Star; George Jackson, equipment-control manager; Kisha Williams-Hare, customer service manager; and international representatives Anat Ayal, vice-president for Caribbean and Central America District; Amos Aloni, vice-president, Caribbean and Central America Services; and Torsten Tyralla, district commercial manager.
ZIM has served the Jamaican market for over 40 years.
