Jesus' mission different from Rev Redwood's

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Just some brief comments on Rev Devon Dick's article in the The Gleaner of May 23.

Rev Dick should not have brought any analogy between Rev Redwood and Jesus in speaking about Matthew 12:48. Jesus wasn't married, his mission was different.

No one made this big noise when Sir Patrick Allen took up the position of governor general. Rev Redwood's decision ought to be respected; at least he is trying to keep his family together.

Who says that you must be president of the Senate until the prime minister asks you to vacate that position?

Many of those in the Cabinet now are there because of what they can get. If they weren't in that position of privilege they very likely would have migrated long ago. In fact, many of the members of parliament's children study overseas. When they are sick they go abroad for medical treatment.

Too many double standards exist in our society. I don't hear any noise about Rev Garnett Roper and his government-appointed jobs.

Just the way the Rev Dick is critical of Rev Redwood, persons can also wonder why the goodly Rev Dick don't stick to his pulpit and stay out of the political rubbish that takes place in our society.

He needs to speak more about the moral decay in our society and about the level of corruption by government officials. I am sure Jesus is longing for him to do that.
