WHITEHOUSE, Westmoreland:

The newly opened ZBar Grill, located in Whitehouse, Westmoreland is the perfect restaurant chill spot, offering a tranquil ambience and a menu guaranteed to delight your culinary senses. Located on the fringes of the Westmoreland, coastline, this picturesque hideaway is positively mood altering.

Operated by Horace and June Anderson and their partners, Maura Watson, Debra Reuben and David Meisner, ZBar offers open-air dining options right by the sea, as well as stunning ocean views with a sighting of Sandals Whitehouse resort in the distance. Palm trees swaying in the wind, gentle waves rushing in, and frequent passage of seagulls add to the charm, while unique Jamaican art and tiled tabletop gazebos add to its pleasing décor.

When The Gleaner recently visited this serene spot, the place was abuzz with activities. Resident musician, Nerada Brissette, sat with a microphone under a large sea grape tree serenading patrons with a series of hit songs from the legendary Ray Charles and other great artistes. As he sang, patrons danced, laughed and chatted while waiting for their meals to be prepared. Such was this feel-good atmosphere that the occasion could have easily been cited for a get-together among close friends and family.

Local favourites including curry goat, smoked chicken and pork are featured on the delectable menu, the preparations of which offer delicious wisps of flavours coming from the kitchen. The curry goat and fried bammy are highly recommended favourites, along with the special rum punch.
