Musical chairs
Gerald Hadeed, former chairman of C2W Music Limited, has resigned from that post effective September 12. The move followed his appointment as Trinidad's minister of communications.
Hadeed is a well-known Trinidadian businessman who is CEO of Beacon Insurance.
Derek Wilkie, director of operations at C2W, will act as chairman in the interim. C2W is a music publishing company which started at the end of 2011 and was listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange last year.
Flamenco salsas over to Mexico
Gustavo Flamenco has left his position as general manager of Pepsi-Cola Jamaica Bottling Company after three years in Jamaica, to assume the position of head of trade marketing at Pepsi Mexico - a market which is about 50 times the size of Jamaica's.
He has also left his position as managing director of Celebration Brands Limited (CBL), a joint distribution company which he helped to set up between Pepsi and Red Stripe.
Flamenco has been replaced as general manager by Miguel Alameda, who will also take the role of head of CBL. Alameda was previously commercial director of Pepsi Jamaica.
Paco retains his pack
Francis 'Paco' Kennedy has been re-elected president of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC) along with the previous year's executive body.
Kennedy, in his incoming remarks, said the chamber would continue to push for private sector unity on the development of an "efficient doing business system.
"Over the last 40 years Jamaica has grown on the average of less than one per cent per annum. We know what to do to correct the above, however, we talk a lot about development plans we do not implement," said Kennedy.
The members of the executive are first vice-president Warren McDonald, second VP Paul Scott, third VP Catherine Kennedy, fourth VP Oliver Chen and treasurer Wilbert Spence.
Career diplomat takes on Japan
Ricardo Allicock is Jamaica's new ambassador to Japan. He presented his credentials to His Imperial Majesty Emperor Akhito earlier in September. Allicock is a career diplomat and was the director of bilateral affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade until this appointment. He has been with the ministry for 11 years.
Allicock replaces Claudia Barnes, also a career diplomat, who was the ambassador to Japan from 2009.
