Pension market share

Published:Wednesday | November 20, 2013 | 12:00 AM

The Editor, Sir:

The Financial Services Com-mission (FSC) writes in relation to the article entitled 'Private pensions now a $300b market - 337 dormant plans to be wound up', and published in the Financial Gleaner of Friday, November 16, 2013.

It is necessary for the FSC to indicate to the public that the details regarding the market share of individual licensees and their assets were not supplied by the FSC and are, in fact, incorrect.

While the FSC provided aggregate information to the Gleaner, it did not provide the data for specific companies and their assets.

The FSC, as part of its regulatory policy does not release or supply data to the public relating to the market share of individual licensees, in keeping with the Pensions (Superannuation Funds and Retire-ment Schemes) Act.
