WESTERN BUREAU:

Talk about a New Year's Eve party, and Blue Beat was spot on.

Speak about dancing until the break of dawn, and not many DJs can stand in the shoes of DJ Bambino, who was at the controls.

Bambino controlled the foot moves, the hip swings and the Congo lines, as over 250 patrons celebrated the start of the new year.

Tagged 'A Gatsby's Night', it wasn't necessary for Leonardo DiCaprio to be present as long as the likes of Brian Brown acted as a suitable replacement.

Brown, who played host, prepared the party aficionados, prompting them every five minutes for the inevitable.

At midnight when the fireworks from both Margaritaville and Blue Beat lit up the Hip Strip, it augmented the known fact that Gloucester Avenue is where electricity reverberates each year.

CELEBRITY GUESTS

Blue Beat competed with 20 other parties in Montego Bay Tuesday night, and many opted to rub shoulders with actress Vivica A. Fox and celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch at Oceanstyle's Sophisticate at Seawind Beach Club.

Also spotted at that event was Tyler Lepley of Tyler Perry's The Have and Have Nots.

This party attracted some of the best-dressed women of 2013 and true-to-form Adonises for 2014.

At Mynt Retreat's Venetian Masquerade, Valrie Brimo and Nyatali McFarlane did a fabulous job with the décor, catering to those who were looking for something different. The two introduced Venetian-inspired cocktails, a premium bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres, live entertainment, and professional ballroom dance performances to enhance the event.

Pier One did the incredible by hosting two parties, one on the inside for super VIPs and the other outside for hundreds who just 'wanna have fun'.

Over in Hanover, at the home of the rich and famous, the exclusive Round Hill Hotel and Villas, Champagne flowed as if there was no tomorrow. Fireworks were lit by the likes of fashion designer Ralph Lauren, his wife, Ricky, renowned author Salman Rushdie, and cooled by Josef Fortsmayr, Omar Robinson, and the team.

Here are the highlights from across the West.
