Seems like the retiring one had invested so much time and energy into making others miserable that spontaneous cheers greeted the news. Word is she did not go without a murmur, however, and was still trying to desperately to be reassigned.

Fake degrees

2 Some say there are many walking around with doctorates and other supposed qualifications that are not worth the paper they are printed on. And this after another such case of bogus qualifications now being investigated in the private sector.

3 Some say they make a lovely 'twosome', even if they are a same-sex couple! Others say they are the new power-couple and they want the world to know it.

Rehab time

4 The wife has checked into rehab! Friends say it's about time! Others are less kind. They say nothing short of a divine intervention will be good enough as her family has a history of being lushes!

Double standards

5 Some are complaining that it's a case of hypocrisy in high places. They say one who tends the flock has a penchant for married women and he is elevated and respected; while another who prefers the company of men is demoted and put out to pasture! Those who are seeking guidance say the double standard sends the wrong message.

6 The groans you all heard on Tuesday came from members of the greenhouse who were scampering for cover after it was suggested to the PM that she ask a minister to represent the country when she receives an official invitation from another head of state! Heard senior members of the party are now in panic mode after the entire episode as they say instead of embarrassing the Government, it showed up the immaturity of the Opposition in matters of foreign affairs!
