WESTERN BUREAU:

The absence of the annual 'Total Togetherness' New Year's Eve party by Sonny Ranking Productions was made up with a pre-Valentine Black and White Affair at the Event Place in Montego Bay last Saturday night. Touted as a red-carpet affair, Ranking, who is renowned for throwing some of the best parties this side of the country, showed why he was missed by party lovers.

The impresario of distinction transformed Montego Bay's newest entertainment venue, making way for his creative juices to flow freely, at what turned out to be a signature event, bringing life to the tourism capital's Hip Strip. The party, advertised to start at 10 p.m., did not take on legs until about midnight, and by 4 a.m., the revellers were just ready to go into fifth gear.

Under the instruction and command of musical geniuses Pure Playazz, Code Red and Dexta Peppa, this event was the perfect complement to Reggae Month.

Ranking, who does everything with a flair, offered three options to patrons: Ultra VIP, VIP, and General.

Those who opted for the ultra package deal received a bottle of Moët Rose Champagne, four passes, reserved parking and special 'Vixen Agency' hostesses to pour their top-shelf liquor. Patrons in the VIP area received extra-plush comfort from easy-looking lounge chairs strategically placed at the top of the venue.

The Black and White Affair did not disappoint. Again, it was the premium and rare vintages such as Ace of Spade, Moët and Chandon, Dom Perignon, and Hennessey that remained among the favourites.
