Lagarde plans to return as tourist

APPARENTLY AWED by Jamaica's attractiveness as a tourism destination, Christine Lagarde, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has indicated that she will be returning to "spend money" on the island.

Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, who met with the IMF head last Friday, suggested that she return to "enjoy our beautiful country and interact a little bit more with our wonderful people".

Lagarde ended a two-day working visit to the country on Saturday, but not before she committed to Simpson Miller and Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips that "I will return to Jamaica to enjoy the beauty of Jamaica and to experiment with the tourism experience and to spend money".
