The son of two prominent politicians in Grenada is now free from a rape allegation.

Craig Joseph, 23, the son of Lawrence Joseph and Social Security Minister, Yoland Bain Horsford was accused of rape in August 2006.

The accused was freed after his lawyers made a submission that he was out of the island, when the incident allegedly took place.

Immigration officials confirmed that he was in England from July to September of that same year.

Mr. Joseph was charged in December, following a demonstration outside Parliament by Former Opposition Leader, Michael Baptiste.

According to Mr. Baptiste, the authorities were unwilling to act.

He also called for the resignation of the Social Security Minister.
