The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in Antigua has withdrawn several charges against a Jamaican man.

Anthony Claude Russell, age 46, who lived at Bathlodge has been in prison since February 5.

He was jointly charged with Trevor Benjamin, of Glanvilles and Fitzroy Roberts of St. Johnson’s Village for possession of cocaine, possession with intent to transfer, possession with intent to supply and possession for the purpose of drug trafficking.

All the charges were withdrawn against Russell.

The charges are however still pending for the other two men.

Benjamin and Roberts were granted bail in the $300,000.

Russell had been granted six weeks stay in Antigua and before his arrest was said to be living in the country without the proper immigration sanctions.

The men were arrested on the weekend following a drug bust on the Pigotts main road.

The drug bust was a joint operation between the Office of National Drug and Money Laundering Control Policy and the Police Narcotics Division.
