Barbados increases oil prices

The Prime Minister of Barbados, David Thompson last night announced an immediate increase in the price of gasoline, diesel and kerosene.



He said the price for cooking gas would be increased today.



Mr. Thompson said the increases follow last week\'s rise in international oil prices to US$112 a barrel.



According to Mr. Thompson, the government is forced to pass on the increases to customers, because it can no longer subsidise energy prices.
