NWM urge government to help workers

The National Workers Movement in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is calling for the government and employers to aggressively seek to help the country’s workers cope with the global food crisis.

The call comes in light of May Day or International Worker’s Day activities in that country, and other Caribbean islands, including Barbados.

The labour movements in these islands are reportedly taking a critical look at what they have been able to achieve over the past year, while pushing for additional gains for their members.

The rising global food prices and the impact that is having on the region is of concern to trade unions around the Caribbean.
