Zimbabwe church leaders against election results

For the first time since last month’s elections in Zimbabwe church leaders have raised serious concerns about the results.

The heads of all Zimbabwe\'s Christian denominations are insisting that the poll was not an expression of the will of the people.

In a statement, they said people were subjected to violence that included torture, murder, abductions, displacement and psychological trauma.

The church leaders have suggested that a transitional authority be set up with the involvement of the church.

President Robert Mugabe, won the June 29 run-off election unopposed after his rival, Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai, pulled out, citing state-sponsored violence.
