Chile proposes CARICOM free trade agreement

Chile has indicated that its interested in pursuing a free trade agreement with CARICOM.



Chile’s representative to CARICOM, Jose Gabriel Zepeda made the proposal when he met with CARICOM’s Secretary General Edwin Carrington yesterday.



Mr. Zepeda is said to have identified three areas of co-operation, which he said show potential for enhancing the quality of life for the people of Chile and CARICOM.



He pointed to poverty alleviation, the proper management of coastal borders and greater cooperation in the area of trade.
