Telecoms providers LIME and Digicel have announced that they will be launching the new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone powered by BlackBerry 10 across the Caribbean.

LIME said the launch will be conducted this year, but Digicel has not given a timeline.

The Z10 is the first BlackBerry smartphone to launch with the redesigned, reengineered and reinvented BlackBerry 10 platform, offering customers a powerful and unique new mobile computing experience, LIME and Digicel said in separate statements released today.

They said the BlackBerry Z10 is the fastest and most advanced BlackBerry smartphone yet, and offers a smarter experience that continuously adapts to customers’ needs.

“As one of the first companies to offer BlackBerry service in the Caribbean we are very excited to introduce another revolution from RIM (Research in Motion) to LIME customers,” said Grace Silvera, LIME’s Regional Vice President, Marketing and Corporate Communications.

Carlo Chiarello, executive vice president, Global Smartphone Business at RIM said that combined with the network and service plans from LIME and Digicel, “BlackBerry Z10 customers will be delighted with a reinvented communication experience, seamless multitasking (and) easy access to multiple social networks.”

Digicel’s Group Commercial Director, Brian Finn said the BlackBerry 10 powered solutions on its network “offer a great new mobile computing experience, which is great news for our style-savvy customers who use BlackBerry smartphones for their business and lifestyle needs.”
