More than 600 persons have been arrested in raids across the United States that targeted people who force children into prostitution.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigations the operations took place in 29 cities and involved federal, state and local law officers.

Officials said 12 large-scale prostitution rings were dismantled in the raids and 47 children rescued.

They say 575 child prostitutes have been saved from exploitation by American criminal gangs since 2003.
