An earthquake in southwestetern Pakistan has left at least 100 people dead.

About 15,000 people have also been left homeless.

The quake, which struck two hours before dawn is said to have had a magnitude of 6.4.

Officials say the death toll is likely to rise as more reports are expected from the remote areas of Baluchistan where the quake struck.

This morning’s quake is considered to be the deadliest since a magnitude 7.6 quake devastated Kashmir and northern Pakistan in October 2005 killing about 80,000 people.
