St Kitts PM defends Taiwan

Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas has defended his country\'s diplomatic relationship with Taiwan as the twin-island federation opened a new embassy in the country.



Dr. Douglas, who is on an official visit to Taiwan said the relationship is based on his administration\'s desire for advancement.



The Prime Minister who is leading a six-member delegation to Taiwan said his island is a very small, developing country with limited resources.



According to him Taiwan stepped forward 25 years ago as the first nation to recognise diplomatically the then newly independent St. Kitts and Nevis.
