The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves denied allegations of rape and assault levelled against him by a member of his security team.

According to court documents filed yesterday, Gonsalves has been accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a female Police Officer at his residence on January 3.

Mr. Gonsalves said the accusations are false and politically motivated.

He said the complaints were made after the woman’s lawyers wrote to the Commissioner of Police on January 26.

Prime Minister Gonsalves said four lawyers who are connected to the opposition party signed the letter.

He also said the matter has been investigated and there is no evidence of wrongdoing.
