Downtown deal
Fidelity, Digicel team up for phone giveaway

Fidelity Motors will give a free Galaxy S4 smartphone to persons who purchase a Nissan vehicle from the dealership this month. However, Fidelity marketing officer, David Crawford, told Automotives that the number of phones is limited. Those who get the phones will also receive one month's free mobile service from Digicel.
The October special was announced last week.
Coupled with the special offer is the Nissan Jamaica Mobile App, which Fidelity says is the first of its kind in the local automobile market.
"It will have information on it on our current line-up and also what is coming soon. What we'll be able to do is send messages to everyone who has the app, if there is a new promotion and so on. There will also be a new feature, where we will use the app to scan an ad or scan a picture and a video will pop up on the phone that will take you to our website," Crawford said.
Since the promotion was launched, there has been an increase in enquiries at the dealership.
free service
"Each customer who purchases a Nissan and completes the deal in October will be the recipient of a brand new Galaxy S4, and will be entitled to free data service for a month with Digicel. We have been solidifying our partnership with Digicel, seeing as they are our neighbour downtown," he said.
There is corporate reciprocity involved. "Recently, we actually offered them some serious staff discounts, and they, in turn, have offered us some discounts as well. So it's just a continuation of that relationship building, plus everybody is interested in the Samsung Galaxy S4. It's the hottest phone out there," Crawford said.
The collaboration has been given extensive media push. Crawford said, "We approached them with the idea and they were quite thrilled. There will be an extensive media campaign. There are ads in the paper, and there's a radio ad that's coming, and possibly a TV ad. It's all over social media - Facebook, Instagram and Twitter".
He said the campaign should have actually been launched in September, but was finalised only this month.
Crawford said while no units have been sold under the S4 deal so far, some customers have already submitted their paperwork to complete purchases. He does not anticipate the deal being extended beyond October, "because we don't want any promotion to get stale. You want to keep it fresh, to keep people on their toes, so I don't expect it to be extended - but never say never".
Crawford said, while giveaways do not guarantee sales, "They definitely serve to bring in greater interest, especially if it's something out there that people are talking about and buzzing about already".
