For the first time in its 12th staging, nearly 150 colourful, energetic members of four marching bands will herald the start of The Best Dressed Fun in the Son Gospel Festival on Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m. at the Portmore Mall Park in Portmore.

The free event is sponsored by the Jamaica Broilers Group's (JBG's) Best Dressed Chicken brand in association with Glory Music.

The marching bands are the Seaview All Stars from Seaview Gardens; Portmore Catholic Panthers of Portmore; Inner City Marching Band from downtown Kingston; and The Falcons/Pembroke Hall band from Pembroke Hall. They were selected from the team of bands that performed at the recently held Excelsior Marching Band Festival at the Kingston waterfront.

Tommy Cowan, producer of The Best Dressed Fun in the Son, said the marching bands will create a one-hour spectacle of twirls, spins, individual displays, and precision march to their own beat of live gospel, inspirational, and high-energy rhythms that will engage onlookers.

THANKS TO JAMBISCO

He thanked The Jamaica Biscuit Company Limited (Jambisco) for partnering with The Best Dressed Fun in the Son and for coordinating the opening spectacle for the gospel festival.

Over the past few years, Jambisco has actively supported and built a relationship with marching bands across the island in furtherance of its corporate social responsibility.

Currently, there are more than 50 marching bands in Jamaica that engage young people in talent discovery and community activities.
