Top-level investigators from the Criminal Investigation Bureau have taken over the investigation into the large gun find in Trelawny on Sunday.
Police sources say the find is a link in the chain of what they say is a bigger plot, a belief that has seemingly triggered the high-level investigation.
Meanwhile, the two men who were held in connection with the seizure, are still in police custody.
Eleven guns were recovered when a pick-up with two men was intercepted by the police in Scarlett Hall, Trelawny on Sunday.
The weapons include a grenade launcher, an M-16, an AK-47, a Sniper Rifle, one Intratek Submachine, and an Uzi Submachine gun.
