Four people escaped serious injuries yesterday after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned after it was allegedly hit by a mini-bus driven by Transport Authority personnel.

The accident occurred in Lionel Town Clarendon about noon.

The driver, Norris Hutchinson, says he was reversing his vehicle in an attempt to give way to the minibus.

However, he says the minibus hit his car twice causing it to ride an embankment and overturn.

Eyewitnesses who were quick on the scene assisted the passengers out of the vehicle and took them to the hospital.

Two elderly passengers received minor cuts and bruises and appeared badly shaken by the incident.

Four persons were treated at the Lionel Town health centre and released.

The driver of the minibus, which is alleged to have caused the accident, fled the scene leaving two police officers who were traveling with them behind.

Meanwhile,  Frederic Bryan president of the Vere Taxi Association is appealing to the transport authority to be more tactful in executing their duties as yesterday's accident could have been fatal.

He says taxi operators complain regularly to the association about such encounters with the authority.
