Arson suspected in Yallahs fires

A fire destroyed a three bedroom house in Pondside, Yallahs this morning.

The St Thomas Fire Department was unable to save the unoccupied board house.

However, the team from the brigade was eventually able to put out the fire which had reportedly spread to a neighbouring house.

Damage is estimated at $1.2 million.

Fire also destroyed two shops in the Yallahs Square this morning.

It is understood that one of the shops belongs to the owner of the house which was destroyed in Pondside earlier today.

Losses are estimated at $3 million.

Both fires are believed to have been set by arsonists.

The St Thomas police are investigating both incidents.
