Tennis Jamaica to host ProAm doubles
Tennis Jamaica will be hosting a fundraising ProAm doubles event tomorrow at the Liguanea Club to raise funds for assisting junior players to travel to overseas tournaments this year. These include the Junior Davis and Federation Cup championships as well as World Junior tournaments.
Teams will comprise a ranked junior coach or experienced senior player, matching up with an amateur junior or senior player. Tournament director Llockett McGregor told The Gleaner that to make the event fast-paced and exciting, they would be having short sets and there would be no ad scoring.
"We are expecting a great turnout as the entries have been good, and it will be a lot of fun. Our top seniors, coaches, and juniors will be matched with amateur junior and senior players, and bragging rights will be a big part of the day's activities. It will be a festive occasion, enhanced by good food and music. It is also for a worthy cause as all the funds will assist Tennis Jamaica in sending our juniors overseas to participate in prestigious tournaments," McGregor said.
There will also be attractive giveaways, with the main prize a weekend at Seaweed Villas, Treasure Beach.
