Senior officers in the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) have joined the call by rank-and-file members for Professor Anthony Harriott to resign as head of the Police Civilian Oversight Authority (PCOA).

The call by the Police Officers Association (POA) comes more than a week after Professor Harriott described the JCF as toxic.

He was speaking amid a debate in Parliament on a bill to separate the JCF from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA).

In a statement yesterday, Chairman of the POA, Superintendent Catherine Lord demanded that he apologise and withdraw the comment.

Superintendent Lord also suggested that Professor Harriott should not be considered to serve on any other oversight body to which the JCF is accountable.

She noted that the JCF has a longstanding relationship with Professor Harriott, but says this has been significantly compromised by his comments.
