Credit unions get ready to celebrate Credit Union Week in platinum style

Credit unions across the island will celebrate Credit Union Week from Sunday, October 14 to Saturday, October 20 under the theme: 'Find Your Platinum Lining in Credit Unions'. The theme, crafted by the World Council of Credit Unions, recognises the celebration of the organisation's 70 years as the apex body for credit unions internationally.
The celebration of the one week of activities in Jamaica will start with the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League (JCCUL) hosting a church service at the Bethel Baptist Church in Half-Way Tree, Kingston. Credit unions outside of Kingston will organise church services in their communities to which credit union members, as well as staff and volunteers of credit unions are invited to attend.
The week of activities will continue on the Tuesday and Wednesday, October 16 and 17 with Soup n Soap outreach activities across the island. Credit union members will use these two days to serve the less fortunate in their communities. These persons may be residents living in homes for the aged or infirmaries or children's homes. They will be treated to meals and care packages.
On Thursday, October 18, Jamaica's credit unions will join 68,000 credit unions in 109 countries and their 235,000,000 members worldwide in celebrating International Credit Union Day. To observe the day, JCCUL will pull together four Kingston-based credit unions and CUNA Caribbean Jamaica in a collaborative effort to host a movie evening at the Carib Cinema.
Entrance will be free of cost to members and non-members who will receive tickets from JCCUL, COK Sodality, C&WJ, JDF, FHC credit unions and CUNA Caribbean Insurance (Jamaica).
National Credit Union Week of activities are organised by the JCCUL, the national association of credit unions.
