The People's Republic of China celebrates in Jamaica
On October 1, H.E. Tian Qi, Chinese ambassador to Jamaica and permanent representative to the International Seabed Authority, held a reception to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Members of the Government, the Opposition, the diplomatic corps, representatives of Chinese expatriates, enterprises in Jamaica, and well-wishers gathered in the Grande Suite at The Pegasus hotel, to honour this milestone for China.
Ambassador Tian Qi elaborated on China's achievements during the 69 years, especially after 40 years of economic reform. He expressed his confidence in the bright prospect of China's development under the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
He reiterated China's commitment to forging a new form of international relations and building a community with a shared future for mankind. The ambassador expressed his willingness to deepen the China-Jamaica partnership to increase the benefits for both countries. He also reaffirmed that China will work with all other countries to better preserve and explore the common heritage of mankind through participation in the international seabed affairs.
Cherished relationship
"Jamaica cherishes its long-standing friendship with China and values China's important role in international affairs. The Jamaica-China friendship has blossomed into a mutually beneficial partnership," said Kamina Johnson Smith, minister of foreign affairs and foreign trade, who conveyed greetings on behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica.
Chinese songs presented by a chorus of Jamaica Constabulary Force officers, representatives from the Chinese embassy, were warmly applauded by an audience that was mesmerised by the harmony and sweet melodies from their performance.
Jamaica extends to the People's Republic of China warm congratulations on celebrating their 69th anniversary and their success as a nation over the years.
