Drought conditions disrupt water supply in St James, Hanover
The National Water Commission (NWC) says drought conditions have caused a 50 per cent cut in production at some of its facilities in St James and Hanover.
As a result, the NWC says customers will experience “intermittent water
supply, low water pressure or no water conditions.”
The NWC gave no indication when normal supplies would resume.
“The commission urges customers to store water for use during this period
and advises that normal operations will resume as soon as the condition
improves,” the NWC said in a statement yesterday.
The facilities affected and the areas they serve are:
St James
Dantrout Plant, which serves the communities of Retrieve, Marchman Road, Seaford Town, St Lennards, Bridgewater and surrounding areas.
Hanover
New Milns Plant, which serves the communities of New Milns, Haddington, Cacoon, Nyerere Farm, Watford Hill, Welcome, Woodland and surrounding areas.
