#Champs 2021 | Tia Clayton gets redemption in 4x100m final
The Edwin Allen High School team of Aliyah Clarke, Tia Clayton, Tina Clayton, and Tonie-Ann Forbes won the Class Two Girls 4x100m title while lowering the record to 44.81 seconds at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships at the National Stadium on Saturday. Hydel High School were second in 45.50s while St Jago High School finished third in 47.08s. Edwin Allen set the previous record of 44.88s in 2015.
Edwin's win served as redemption for anchor Tia Clayton, who false started in the final of the Class Two Girls 100m on Thursday.
Jamaica College (JC) won the Class Two Boys 4x100m title in 40.97s with Calabar High School second in 41.31s and Kingston College (KC) finishing in third in 41.78s.
St Jago did the double in the Class One 4x100m relays as the girls won their title in a season’s best time of 45.44s. Hydel were in second in 45.51s while Holmwood Technical High School finished third in 45.59s. The boys won their title in 39.75s, with St Elizabeth Technical High High School (STETHS) in second place in 39.82s and JC finishing third in 40.21s.
Hydel won the Class Three 4x100m title in 46.44s, with St Jago finishing second in 47.35s and Edwin Allen in third in 47.62s. STETHS won the Class Three Boys title in 43.01s. Calabar were second in 44.31s while JC finished third in 44.84s.
In Class Four, Edwin Allen won the title in 47.70s. Hydel were second in 48.25s and Vere finished third in 48.71s.
