Parliamentarians pay tribute to late former tourism minister Tulloch

Leader of the Opposition Mark Golding described Tulloch as a legendary politician who has left an indelible footprint on Jamaica's political landscape.

Members of the House of Representatives paid tribute this afternoon to the late former government minister, Francis Tulloch, who died last Thursday at the age of 81.

Golding said as a former minister of tourism, Tulloch was instrumental in the formation of the Jamaica Union of Travellers Association  and the Jamaica Co-operative Automobile and Limousine Tours Ltd that provide transportation services to the tourism sector.

He said Francis' passing was a huge loss to the People's National Party and the country.

Karl Samuda, MP for St Andrew North Central hailed, Tulloch as an extraordinary public figure.

He noted that Tulloch was a man of integrity.

Member of Parliament for St James West Central Marlene Malahoo Forte said Tulloch made a huge contribution to nation building.

Tulloch is a former Member of Parliament for St James Central.

In his tribute, MP for Kingston East and Port Royal Phillip Paulwell said Tulloch was a "calm, thoughtful and relaxed person".

Paulwell recalled getting "sound and valuable" advice from Tulloch on national issues.

MP for St Ann South East Lisa Hanna said Tulloch was among a league of distinguished men and women who graced the halls of Gordon House.

The late attorney-at-law, who was first elected to Parliament in 1972, represented the St James Central constituency from 1976 to 1980 for the People's National Party. Tulloch was appointed Minister of Tourism in 1997 and served in that capacity under the P.J. Patterson-led administration for two years.
