The Dominican Republic upset Jamaica’s Young Reggae Boyz to take a place in the 2023 World Cup in Indonesia courtesy of a 1-0 win.

The only goal of the game came in the 10th minute courtesy of a Angel Montes De Oca strike.

This was the second upset of the Concacaf U20 Championships for the Dominican Republic outfit, who had beaten El Salvador 5-4 in the round of 16.

The Dominican Republic will now wait to see if they will face the United States, Honduras or one of either Mexico or Guatemala.

Earlier the Reggae Boyz had started with a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica before rebounding from a 5-0 loss to Honduras to beat Antigua and Barbuda 2-0 to make the round of 16.

In that round the Jamaicans got the better of a game Haiti, 2-1, sparking hopes of a first World Cup berth since 2001.
