STAFF MEMBERS at Sandals Negril, in Westmoreland, were given one additional reason to feel appreciated at their workplace and to improve camaraderie on Monday with the grand opening of the Yaad House restaurant, which was created specifically to have staff members eating together while upgrading their eating experience.

The opening of Yaad House, which is deemed a grand reimagination of the resort’s staff restaurant, brought smiles to staff members, who had been awaiting this new experience with much anticipation, as they shared the new surrounding with other team members and corporate delegates.

“Work can definitely be overwhelming sometimes but this space allows us to feel relaxed and rejuvenated,” said Tavina Porter, a junior sales executive at the property. “It’s more than we ever imagined it would be.”

The new restaurant, which was designed to provide a state-of-the-art dining area for staff members, features a spacious interior, contemporary furnishings, and a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, the tasteful display of the guiding pillars aligned with the brand’s Way Forward initiative is said to be providing a refreshing new atmosphere.

“Yaad House is the first of many developments across the chain and is essentially the prototype for the new restaurant concept for employees to enjoy,” explained Shawn DaCosta, chief operations officer of Sandals Resorts International, who expressed much pleasure in sharing the sentiments surrounding the significance of bringing the brand’s vision to life at Sandals Negril.

“Sandals Negril was one of our first hotels and we really wanted to make an impact here. We knew for sure that we would begin at this resort and replicate this across all our hotels,” added DaCosta.

David Latchimy, general manager at Sandals Negril, described the new location as a safe, sustainable, and comfortable space for the staff, and expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the new Yaad House experience.

“When we started this project two years ago, we envisioned an amazing staff restaurant for the team. It was important to me that there was a place for them to unwind and be at ease,” said Latchimy. “I was resolutely committed to the actualisation of this vision and to the team’s general welfare.”

He added: “Fast-forward to today and we have one of the most beautiful spaces around. This is truly a proud moment for the Sandals Negril family.”
