M16 rifle seized in St Andrew, man arrested

The St Andrew North police have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with the seizure of an M16 rifle and several rounds of ammunition on Friday in the community of Lower Happy Grove.
The police report that about 1:30 p.m. a team conducted a targeted operation in the community, during which a house was searched.
According to the police, the high-powered weapon affixed with a magazine containing 13 rounds of 5.56 ammunition was discovered and a man arrested.
The suspect, who is a farmer, was held on suspicion of being in possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
The Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the matter.
The suspect name is being withheld pending further investigations.
