Man fatally shot in alleged police shootout in Portmore
The Independent Commission of Investigations has launched a probe in the fatal shooting of an unidentified man by the police in Portmore, St Catherine on Wednesday.
The incident happened in the vicinity of Walker Avenue and Cottage Drive in the Gregory Park area.
It is reported that about 3:40 p.m., a police team went an operation, which saw cops visiting a dwelling.
The police were reportedly challenged by the man and the fire was returned.
He was shot.
According to the police, the man was found with three imitation firearms as well as a Taurus pistol affixed with a magazine containing four rounds of ammunition.
The items were seized.
The injured man was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
