Reggae being stolen, indeed!

THE EDITOR, Sir:
I concur with Mr Winston 'Niney' Holness regarding the piracy that goes on in the world today with reggae music (Gleaner, 'Is reggae being stolen?', March 20, 2013).
I kept wondering whenever I hear reggae being played in foreign countries, are the artistes or their families receiving any type of royalty? Last December, I spent three weeks in the Mandalay area of Myanmar (Burma); I was shocked to see a large portrait of Bob Marley in the music department of the store.
While working there, I saw no one that looks like me, a Jamaican. The people even referred to me as 'Obama brother', yet you could hear reggae-style music being played over there.
