Dadland Maye story well worth reading

THE EDITOR, Sir:
"Wow!" was all I could say reading Dadland Maye's article 'Out of the closet, out of Jamaica' (Sunday Gleaner, April 7, 2013). It's certainly one of the best pieces I've ever seen published anywhere in Jamaican media.
I read every word and was touched, moved, you name it. As I reached quarter way into the article, I realised it was written by a very well-educated individual who is gay, one who has been scarred for life by discrimination and hate. What a loss to Jamaica that such great talent has left our shores!
Well done, Gleaner, for sharing this very powerful story. Hopefully it will touch some hearts and open some eyes, to those who prefer to be blinded, those who pretend that none of this happens in our beloved Jamaica.
