After yesterday's qualifying session, the Jamaican contingent is again ready to take to the track this morning at the South Dakota Circuit, Guyana, where they will be battling the region's best for the top titles in the 2013 Caribbean Motor Racing Championship (CMRC).

The team of Doug Gore, Peter Rae, Gary Williams and Noel 'Kawesi' Golding landed in Guyana Thursday afternoon, courtesy of a direct Fly Jamaica flight which lasted for three hours.

"We made arrangements to facilitate the Jamaican drivers with discounted tickets. Motorsport is very popular here and in Guyana. Come next year, we will be offering special packages to enhance the traffic between both countries," said Senya Brown, marketing executive officer of Fly Jamaica, which is looking forward to being one of the major sponsors of the event next year.

At the end of the first leg in April, Jamaica was leading on points in the race for champion country, while Doug Gore was also leading in the drivers' section of the CMRC. All Gore needs is a podium finish in the three CMRC races to wrap up the championship.

"I am not here for the podium finish, I am here to win. Right now, I am here at the track (South Dakota), watching the Barbados pair of Mark and Doug Maloney, and they are looking good," Gore said on Friday.

He is inviting everybody to watch the event, which will be streamed live from Guyana.

"It was rain and more rain here, but the reggae racers are in high spirits. We are heading to the track now, because the container with the cars arrived there since Thursday," Peter Rae told Automotives on Friday.

According to a story posted on the Kaieteur News website Guyana's Shawn King, who drives a Mazda RX7 and resides in Canada, will be among the big names competing in Group 2B of the CMRC.

Commenting on the highly competitive Group 4 Class, King told Kaieteur News that his countryman, Kevin Jeffrey, will be hard to beat. Jeffrey, he said, had done quite a lot of modifications to his machine.

Jeffrey and the other big guns of the region were properly beaten by Doug Gore during the first leg of the CMRC series in April at the Dover Raceway, St Ann.

Two other Guyanese, Mark Vieira and Andrew King, will also be a part of the showdown.
