Petrojam workers strike ... refinery says measures in place to continue fuel delivery
The management of Petrojam Limited says the strike action by workers will not affect the supply of fuel to the market.
Technical workers at Petrojam have been on strike since yesterday afternoon.
The workers and their representative, the Petroleum Workers' Association, are reportedly upset that matters concerning hazardous working conditions have remained unresolved by the Petrojam management.
They have also reportedly expressed concerns about some of the practices of management.
Petrojam says measures have been in place to ensure the refinery remains operational during the strike action.
According to the state agency, the management, the workers and the Ministry of Labour have been in discussions regarding the issues.
Late Tuesday afternoon the parties were meeting at the Labour Ministry to address the concerns.
