Holness promises changes for St Thomas under JLP gov't
Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader Andrew Holness has promised the people of St Thomas that his government would create special agricultural zones in the parish.
Speaking at the ‘Poverty to Prosperity’ session in Morant Bay, Eastern St Thomas, Thursday night, Holness said this would remove the
historic dependency on sugar cane.
The JLP Leader also undertook to create a special economic zone in St Thomas under a special tax programme to create employment for the people of the community.
He also underscored the complaint of Delano Seiveright, the JLP candidate for the constituency about the need for investment projects in St Thomas.
According to Holness, that for too long, St Thomas has been the most neglected parish in Jamaica and a JLP administration would also answer the cries of the people for water.
“Water is life but more than that, it is the basis for rural development,” he said.
Holness also called for uncommitted voters to get involved in the electoral process.
