Proxy Parents hosts bazaar in The Gardens

Celebrating 35 years serving Jamaica's children, the International Proxy Parents' (IPP) annual international bazaar returns to The Gardens, the Jamaica Pegasus hotel, on November 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This cultural extravaganza allows Jamaicans to experience different cultures, taste dishes, and buy products from countries with embassies in Jamaica. Along with the food, drink, raffles, costume parade and children's corner, there will be entertainment with master of ceremonies Heather Grant, Seretse Small, Charmaine Lemonious, Queen's High School choir, dancers, gymnasts, singers, Calabar High School drummers, and more.

The bazaar, IPP's major source of funding, allows the charity to continue its mission of giving assistance to the less fortunate children in society. Currently, the IPP provides more than J$2 million in scholarships for bright but needy high school students across Jamaica and assistance to children who are wards of the state and reside in children's homes or places of safety.

"As IPP turns 35, we are looking at new and better ways to achieve our mission [and] see how we can link with similar organisations with similar goals, to improve the parenting skills of mothers and fathers, thereby reducing the number of children in state care," said Pauline Lindo, president of the IPP.
